Beef / Dairy Barn Tour

Welcome to the Indoor Arena which houses the Beef and Dairy Cattle during the Interstate Fair each year. The barn has several breeds represented and is broke into two sections.  First Half includes youth exhibitors, longhorn cattle, lowline cattle, and a few additional open breeds.  Second Half includes additional breeds for adult exhibitors.  Enjoy your tour of the barn and then visit your local Big R with the coupon below for big savings!

YEAR CONSTRUCTED: 1964 (one the the facilities oldest buildings).

SUPERINTENDENTS: Dick Blakley (First Half) and Joe Coppersmith (Second Half).

FAIR FUN: Can you answer all four questions? The answers are located at the bottom of the page.

  1. What breed of cattle (here the first half only) is smaller than most and part Angus?
  2. In which corner of the building is the milking parlor located?
  3. What breed of cattle (here the first half only) originates in Scotland?
  4. Used to produce a distinct flavor of cheese in one of France's valleys this breed of cattle (here the second half only) was bred to thrive in tough rangeland conditions and high altitudes.

NUMBER OF EXHIBITS: To clarify the numbers, each time an animal goes into the arena to be judged, it is counted as an exhibit. Some cattle enter up to 2 or 3 classes each.
