Mission
It is the mission of the Community Services Substance Abuse Prevention Unit to support strategies that prevent the use and misuse of alcohol, tobacco and other substances by youth and adults who reside within Spokane County.
Substance Abuse Prevention Services
Substance Abuse Prevention Services are primarily supported by federal Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) funds that come to the County from the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse. Funding is also provided by other local, state and federal sources.
The County contracts with several community not-for-profit organizations to provide prevention services. These services are targeted to specific populations and they address priority risk and protective factors. They are provided in community, family, school and peer/individual domains.
