Spokane County has received a $244,000 grant from the Department of Defense to conduct a Joint Use Land Study in the vicinity around Fairchild Air Force Base. Please se the attached news release and contact Associate Planner Jim Falk at 477-7228 for more information.
ZONING CODE AMENDMENTS
On June 5, 2007 the Board of County Commissioners signed Findings of Fact and Resolutions for two separate amendments to the Spokane County Zoning Code.
- In Resolution #7-0473, the Board adopted modifications to Table 606-3 to reduce side yard setbacks in the LDR and LDR+ zones to five feet. View

- In Resolution #7-0472, the Board adopted modifications to various code sections regarding parking standards in residential zones primarily directed towards front yard parking. View

2006 IRC CHANGES
The State Building Code Council voted unanimously at their meeting on June 8, 2007 to support a local jurisdictions proposal to enter into Emergency Ruling, suspending the lateral restraint provisions of Section R404.1 in the 2006 IRC and retaining the 2003 IRC requirements!
NEW BUILDING CODES ADOPTED BY STATE - 2006 EDITIONS WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2007
On November 17, 2006, the Washington State Building Code Council (Council) voted to adopt the 2006 Editions of the national models codes, with some state amendments. The Council also adopted changes to the Washington State Energy Code and Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality Code.
These documents are available on the SBCC website (http://www.sbcc.wa.gov/pages/code.html). New code documents and insert pages to update existing code documents are expected to be available to download from the Council's website sometime in early February.
