Sheriff Traffic School Program

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Spokane Valley Police Departments Collision Avoidance Reduction & Education School (C.A.R.E.S.) is offered to drivers who have been cited by the Sheriff’s for a minor traffic infraction.  It is designed to improve the driver’s knowledge and understanding of traffic laws as well as provide safe driving techniques and strategies.

You will be provided with the class application at the time of your stop by the Sheriff’s deputy.  The Court does not give out the applications.  The only traffic infractions that qualify for this program are ones issued by SCSO (Spokane County Sheriff Office) or SVPD (Spokane Valley Police Department).  Tickets issued by other agencies are not eligible as we do not have legal jurisdiction to dismiss their tickets.

THE APPLICATION MUST BE DELIEVERED BY THE APPLICANT, IN PERSON, WITHIN 15 DAYS OF THE DATE OF VIOLATION.

Take your copy of the infraction, the completely filled out application form, and your drivers license to either Court location.

There will be a class fee of $135 that must be paid at the time you submit your application. A court date will be set for you to cover the possibility you may not qualify.

  1. Accepted into Program
  2. Ineligible for Program

Upon acceptance you will be notified by mail informing you of your class time.  You are required to attend class on the date scheduled.  Class dates cannot be rescheduled and your $135 fee is non-refundable if you withdraw less than 14 days prior to the class date.

If you successfully complete Traffic School your infraction will be dismissed and you will not need to appear at the scheduled court date.
