June 2016 - The Newman Lake Flood Control Zone District (NLFCZD) has scheduled a herbicide treatment to control Eurasian watermilfoil within Newman Lake. Herbicide treatment is scheduled to occur on or after June 7, 2016 but is dependent on weather and lake conditions.
The herbicide being used will be 2,4-D Amine, which is a selective systemic herbicide approved by the Washington State Department of Ecology for aquatic use.
The contract applicator, AquaTechnex, will be posting signs along beaches and docks within the affected areas prior to the treatment date. Lakefront property owners in the planned and possible herbicide treatment areas will be notified as there may be restrictions for drinking and irrigation water.
Public Boat Launch will be closed from June 7 - 9, 2016 as permission was granted by WA State Depart of Fish and Wildlife.
Residents and visitors are being asked to refrain from boating and swimming activities from June 7 - 9, 2016.
