Appointed to the Spokane County Board of Commissioners in February 2016, local government is nothing new to Nancy McLaughlin. Prior to joining the county, Nancy served eight-years on the Spokane City Council, a term-limited position, until 2013. During her tenure on the city council, Nancy participated on numerous boards and commissions and served as President of the Association of Washington Cities, the state organization representing all 281 city and towns in Washington. Currently she serves on the Board of Directors of The Way of Business and We Believe, We Vote and on the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army.
As a Spokane County Commissioner, Nancy will continue to work diligently to ensure your tax dollars are being used efficiently and effectively, and believes that we must work to grow the tax base rather than raise taxes. Knowing that privately-owned businesses are still the backbone of America, Nancy continues to work for an economic climate that not only allows current businesses to be successful, but will also attract new businesses and jobs into Spokane County. She is a strong property rights advocate and believes in limited government.
Nancy and her husband, Dave, have owned and operated a kitchen and bathroom remodeling company, D-Mac Construction, since 1980. They have three grown children, four fabulous grandchildren, and two curious cats. In her spare time, Nancy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, snow skiing, golfing, or staying at home with a good book or movie.
